Foreign Judgments

In Georgia, the full faith and credit clause does not apply to judgments and decrees of foreign countries. However, the Doctrine of Comity will apply to see if the judgment or decree will be enforceable in the State of Georgia. Comity refers to any matter that is not immoral or contrary to domestic public policy as well as harmonial with the fundamental concepts of justice in the enforcing state. If a foreign judgment accords with the principle of comity, it would seem to be enforceable in the State of Georgia.
